How to find jeans that fit - in 9 steps

Denim is not all about stretch. The tight weave of premium
denim goes far to prevent that annoying second-day sag,
which can cause your jeans to seem a size larger overnight.

Wasteband

A wider waistband can flatter a slightly fuller tummy. With others, watch that you don’t have a sausage effect around a tight waist.

The Rise

Otherwise known as crotch length. Superlow styles may wax and wane. Aim for a style that’s solidly below your belly button.

The Slope

The relationship between the front rise and the back rise is an important part of the fit. The right one can give you a flattering low look in the front and thong coverage in the back.

The Hem

The Hem A slight flare is easiest for most body types; it will balance out wider hips.

Wash

The process of washing- and bleaching, grinding and sanding denim is always evolving. Avoid details in places where you don’t want attention, and skip pairs with too many obvious fireworks.

Pockets

Their size and placement can make all the difference in the rear view: If they’re small and far apart, for instance, your caboose might look wider.

The Yoke

This is the V-shaped double seam below the waistband and above pockets. Pairs that downplay or eliminate it can flatter larger or saggier derriéres.

Side Pockets

Make sure there’s no unflattering, hip-widening gap here.

Length

Leave ém longer to elongate the legs or if you’ll be wearing heels regularly with this pair. Cuffs work with cropped jeans
